Bone augmentation procedures in the presence of atrophic edentulous ridges and / or expanded maxillary sinuses have become common practice in advanced implant dentistry, with high success rates of the most common surgical procedures such as GBR, bone grafts, sinus lift, et cetera.

However, complications may follow these regeneration procedures, both because of malpractice, but even in “experienced hands”.

Aim of this lecture is to show rational protocols in order to prevent and manage these complications, such as membrane or bone graft exposures, infection, sinusitis following sinus lift procedures.

Specific algorithms for each type of complication will be described in detail.
